Royalis prefers to look ahead. With a view to a horizon that transcends generations, as if we were building cathedrals. So that, together, we leave something behind that is truly meaningful. With this in mind, we create a movement of entrepreneurs who think and work from a broader perspective.
From Coolblue to Royalis
In 1999, Bart Kuijpers became one of the three founders of Coolblue. For years he helped build the company into one of the largest online retailers in the Benelux.
After his departure in 2015, he deliberately chose not to let the proceeds from the sale of his shares sit idle, but to invest them in companies and entrepreneurs. In 2018 this became Royalis, which he started together with his childhood friend Maurits Roose.
His motivation stems from a Christian conviction: wealth is entrusted to you to do good with it. Driven by the desire to leave behind something greater than yourself, Royalis invests with care for people, business, and the world around them.
Between 2018 and 2024, Royalis invests approximately €20 million in promising Dutch companies. In 2024, Erik in ‘t Groen joins and a further development of Royalis’ profile follows. The focus shifts to companies with a proven business model and an EBITDA starting at €2 million.
